The larger Epic (8.5” diameter) is not only a totally new maze, it incorporates more challenges, a total of 125 barriers – that’s 25 more tough spots than the original. It's a bit more challenging, but, like the original Perplexus, it has an almost addictive appeal. And our testers liked that there were several restart points to make falling off the track a little less frustrating.
Unfortuantely, there were some minor durability issues in half our samples (3 of 6). Detached interior tracks in two samples, and a small interior piece breaking off in the third. It's a testament to the appeal of this toy that not only did tsters adapt to these breakages and continue playing, they gave it the highest possible ratings for play value, and even fairly high ratings (8 out of 10) for quality. Truly an intriguing toy!
I liked the colors on the origial version better, but this one has really neat routes like stairs and stuff. I like that there is a trial run, and if I can ever get really good at that, I could maybe finish the real labyrinth. Sebastien (M9)
I like that you don't have to set it up, you can just pick it up and start playing. I play it 4-5 times a day. It's harder than the earlier version and I like that. Aleeza (F9)
Every adult that walks into my house sits down and plays with it until it is taken away from them. So captivating, so challenging. As adults we often don't take time to chill, and this is a perfect escape. Cathy Maltais
