With a 6.5” diameter and only 75 barriers, the Rookie is smaller than the original Perplexus - ideal for younger players. And like the original, the Rookie has been VERY popular with our testers. The smaller diameter is a more comfortable handful and fewer - and easier - barriers makes it a litle less overwhelming. One family had some durability issues, but in general, this maze inside a see-through sphere is quite durable and the enclosed sphere means that the marble does not get lost. The embedded numbers that lead the way are still quite difficult to read (especially through the glare and scratching on the enclosure sphere), but still, the fun value for this maze is defintely addictive.
You have to get lots of practice to win this game. I sometimes make it to the bubble but it's really hard. You have to be super careful and slow or else the ball falls and you have to start all over. Mom and dad love this toy so we have to share it. I like the stairs the most. My dad is so good at it, it only took him 3 tries to win! Blaze (M5)
Extremely addictive and challenging, and probably the most played with toy in our house in years. It's unique in that kids as well as parents love it and can each get equal enjoyment out of it.
