The Magic School Bus™ Chemistry Lab

Loaded with a generous assortment of tools and supplies to make science at home an affordable activity.
Unfortunately, the activity cards aren't particularly kid-friendly. Small print aside, the first dozen or so cards are actually boring background information about the components in the kit. While it's necessary information to know, simply reading the cards at the outset will no doubt dampen most kids enthusiasm before they even get started. We suggest you read and "interpret" this information on behalf of your child, strategically slipping in the information as opportunity presents.
Once you get past the information cards, there are a number of great suggested activities. But again, you'll probably want to use the cards to...
I made slime and then we turned it into a bouncy ball. It didn’t stay a ball for long – it smushed after awhile, but it was neat making it. There were some experiments that were nothing – like dipping paper in things. I didn’t like those. I can’t wait to do the volcano, Science is fun! - Shalom (M6)
The Fritz does it again! My kids (M6, M7 & F9) are science-lovers and this kit was so attractive that they couldn’t wait to do the experiments. The activities need constant adult supervision, it’s not a kit kids are supposed to do on their own. The main concepts were just not interesting to my kids (who cares what the pH level of things are?). Once we got into the more complex experiments, they were really into it. Of course, the kids didn’t really care why the slime turned into the ball, they just wanted to be able to say they made it! They still learn key concepts in chemistry, though, which makes this kit a winner! - Rebecca Young, Parent
Ms. Frizzle and her students take Young Scientists on a wild ride with the Magic School Bus as they explore the field of chemistry. Young Scientists make sticky ice, use litmus paper, measure pH, perform chromatography, make bubble sculptures, wake-up fungus, create slime, form a bouncy ball, learn about density. produce a milk rainbow, plate copper, explore a volcano, and much, much, more! This exhilarating bus-shaped kit comes packed with science components, 51 colorful experiment cards and a data notebook to record observations. Seatbelts, everyone! Get ready to experiment with Chemistry Lab!
