Cars 2 (#01020)
Meon has the same 'play with light' appeal as the classic Lite Brite toy, except that the activity is more like doing lacing cards than a peg board. And, the plastic Meon wire is way more hi tech - a fibre-optic sort of thing that is itself the light source (once its plugged in to the back of the unit) rather than from a backlight shining through.
Our testers were very excited to do these kits, although several found it to be a long process and most wanted to keep their porjects on display rather than start a new project. The little pegs that hold the wire in place were difficult to work with, and small enough to be lost - a problem especially because so few are supplied. And like Lite Brite, it's not really practical to re-use the activity sheets, so you'll want to plan to purchase more.
The activity is available in several sizes, all of which make a great nightligh. Note that the smaller sets (7" and 12" frames) feature just the basic lacing activity. It's only...
I like it when the lights shoot out of the lightsaber. When it's night it shines really bright and you can see the death star! Kaï (M7)
Unique and exciting, but definitely requires help from an adult to do the lacing, and the small clear pegs were a headache to keep track of and very difficult to handle. We love the memory game the best, and Blaze M5 loved setting the alarm in his bedroom so that it would go off whenever someone opened the door. Tammy Wiseman, Parent
It looks a bit like an upscale lightbright...but this toy is in a field of it's own. Not only is it really pretty when it is finished, there are games involved. It has fascinated all 4 of my kids (M7 F8 M9 F11), but using the sheets over and over ripped them up, and removing the pins is sometimes hard and there is not little container to keep them in, so we lost a few.
