
Monopoly Live
Being a fan of house rules, I'm not usually keen about computer controlled board games. I don't even like the electronic banking calculator found in the Here and Now editions, because I find it slows game play in an annoying way, and doesn't really add anything but a semblance of convenience. But after playing a few rounds at Toy Fair last week, I am excited about Monopoly Live, mainly because it does add interesting new game play in a way no other adaption has (with the exception perhaps of Monopoly City). The computerized tower that sits in the middle of the Monopoly Live game board is much quicker and far more sophisticated. Not only does this infrared tower/speaker keep track of each player's finances, it literally has "eyes" and can tell you if you've miscounted and landed on the wrong spot - as well as telling you which spot you should have landed on.
