Review

Our testers LOVED the new 3DS! We only had a loaner unit for a month, so it was a shorter test than we ordinarily do, but all agreed they'd barely scratched the surface of all the fun this unit offers. The 3D effect takes a little getting used to, and our testers - kids and adults alike - were glad they could ease into it by controlling the level of 3D effect. The AR cards were perhaps the favourite feature - it's pretty cool to see the games pop to life in the middle of your kitchen table. Our testers enjoyed playing the pre-programmed games that come with the unit, as well as using the cards with other 3DS games we tested. Taking 3D photographs was another popular feature, esepcially using the drawing function to doctor them up a bit. Overall, and excellent new DS unit. Most of the games we were given to test, are re-makes of classic Nintendo games. It will be interesting to see what brand new games Nintendo creates to take full advantage of the 3D effect.

Tester Feedback

This is liket he best game I have ever played! My other nintendo was not half as cool as this one! I like that I can play in 3D or not, and I love the little games taht come inside it, like Exit bike - you ride this bike and make it jump in the air, with the 3D on I feel like I am flying with it. And the one with the AR card, I was shooting at a dragon that was coming out of our kitchen table!  This is like the coolest game. The smaller stlus is easier to hold.  The Box is a little bigger but it is still light and I didn't get tired of playing.  Oh and the pictures are really nice, they actually look 3D. At the beginning I could not play 3D for long, my eyes would hurt.  But now I can play it full 3D for a long time! - well as long as my mom lets me play. I was able to connect to our WII game and got some Mii's to play with, that was funny to see them disappear form the TV and appear on my 3DS. Sébastien (M9)

Wow! what an improvement from the regular DSi game. It is absolutely cool. I held a virtual  dog in my hand.  I played with an AR card and boxes would appear out of thin air and a dragon came out of my table.  I love technology and I must say I have never seen anything as cool as that.  The 3D was a little hard to get used to, but after a little bit of time I was OK with it, as long as I didn't move my head too fast.  I appreciated the feature that let you turn it off, it gave me time to get used to it. The older DS games work on this console and the colors are amazing, crisp and bright. Marie-Lise Hache
