The manufacturer recommends this "expert" level RC car for ages 12+. And looking at it, we agree. However, for whatever reason, it was consistently the younger siblings and cousins of our testers (the 8-10 crowd) who had the most fun with it - and the most control. Ratings for durability were inconsistent. Three families had no trouble, giving it a top rating for quality and describing it as robust enough to take the abuse their underaged testers put it thorugh. But two samples stopped responding to the remote almost immediately (both testers say they checked batteries and wire connections). This high performance RC car can be a lot of fun, but we suggest you hold on to your receipt - just in case.
It almost flies it is so fast. I put it in a hamster ball for fun, I thought it would make the ball turn, but it just did 360s inside the ball! I tried counting how many turns but it was way to fast for me. It's not too hard to control, I did hit a few walls at the start but the machine is tough and it bounced back. There are [separate] tires for the inside and the outside. My older cousin (13) had a hard time driving it, but I didn't - I am so good! Oh and someone played with an inside tires and tore it in half; good thing there are spares. Sébastien (M9)
I've seen other remote control cars that are good for inside/outside use, but never one with different tires designated for each. Good grips outside and clean(er) floors inside! It has tremendous power for moving and jumping, provided by a built-in (rechargeable) battery - extra points for that one. The kids (8 & 10) were really excited to demonstrate how it can run on its rear wheels for an extended period of time, and then come down and continue driving straight--I "had" to come and see it numerous times!
