Cole (3.5) enjoys remote control vehicles and combining this with an actual structure that the truck can interact with is great and he played with it pretty regularly. Alot of times, Cole would just enjoy using the remote control truck to drive it around, but he also liked to drive the truck onto the toy and collect boulders. There's a bit of thinking required to get the truck to turn the way you want it to, and it took him a little while to get used to what button to press, but since the buttons are color coded, this helped alot. I think the way the truck can flow through the various areas is really good. The easy guide tracks are a great idea since Cole doesn't have to line up the truck perfectly in order to move it onto the structure and around. This is important because the remote control is a little touchy and the truck turns pretty quick. The 'UP' elevator was the only thing that didn't work properly. When the truck drives on and hits the stop sign, the lift should raise and the truck proceed onto the top level but the lift would fall just short of the upper level and so would always need a little push so the truck could keep going. Cole didn't really get frustrated with this but it's unfortunate as it takes away from experiencing the truck go up and down automatically. This is a big toy and once it's all put together, some of the pieces don't come apart so you need a pretty large area to store it in. That said, it is on a stable base and the truck and remote can be placed on the structure for storage and moving. The boulders were difficult to keep track of sometimes though. But I found it fun to drive the truck with the remote control myself! Overall, a good toy for this price point. Karen Paton, Parent
