My 1.5 month old son can use this mat to get comfy, but given his age and lack of head or neck controls, he's not ready for tummy time. And the mat was too small for a 4 month old visiting infant, who rolled off it in seconds. The mat is attractive, with two spots for interchangeable pods, but the 4 month old banged her chin on them (when her head flopped down!) so they aren't as great a feature as I would have thought. I was very excited to try a mat and I do like the colors and black/white contrasts on this mat, however the mat itself is narrow and short. My 3 1/2 month old just fits the length of the mat and managed within seconds to wiggle his way off of it. The mirror is the toy he is most interested, but its flimsy stand did not keep it in position. Not does the use of this mat does add any benefit when used in combination with the Activity Gym, again due to its small size. I do like the idea of the interchangeable pods. They offer a range of colors, textures and sounds and each has a velcro strap that can also be attached to other things like the stroller, car seat etc.. I'd consider purchasing these on their own.
